    Hiya

Quick question, I'm trying to transfer an account which uses up some 9gb of diskspace

It started the process and transfered some 9gb worth of files, split across 90 files, each being 100mb

It recombined those files and the file it sitting in the home directory right now

But instead of extracting those files, it's now streaming files from the home directory on the old server, so it's redownloading 9gb worth of files, again?

    Any idea why?

How did you choose to restore the account? Basically, what process was used for this transfer?

    Hello Adam,

Normally, the process is not that a transfer copies the files over first, but that it performs the following process:

    1) creates split files for the user's data
    2) copies the split files to the new machine (with a placeholder file there to get that data as it slowly uploads)
    3) recombines the files
    4) restores the account

Now, are you certain when it was creating the files it had actually transferred them over as that step is after creating the split files. Also, 9GB of data for an account will create 2-4 times that data for the move files, so even if some are on the new machine, it likely isn't re-transferring the data there but additional data anyway.

We would need to log into the machine to review the log of what it is doing to see what's going on, but I'd recommend simply letting it go to completion, although you could always feel free to copy the entire log as a text file attachment and send it to us to review to see if it did do something strange during the process. Our ticket system is at WHM > Support Center > Contact cPanel or using the link in my signature.

    Thanks.
