I curious if cpanel bandwidth monitoring uses actual data that is going out of the network card, or if it just checks the logs of appache or something.

I have a cobalt server and it reports bandwidth. The bandwith reporting is a joke, though, because it uses apache's logs to determine bandwidth. Say a website has a 30MB file and someone accesses it but doesn't fully download it. Say they just download 1 MB and give up and cancell the download. Apache will just report that the 30MB file was downloaded in its logs. Thus, my cobalt gives rediculous answers.

Does cpanel use the same measures, or does it somehow monitor actual packets going out the NIC?
