Added IP addr, reserved & allocated to an account but IP addr not respondin

    I was given an IP address to, added to WHM and it shows up with a green tick in Main >> IP Functions >> Show or Delete Current IP Addresses. In fact all the IP addresses show up with green ticks there

    I then created a new account and switched its IP address to the new one but I can't access the site using IP (DNS not that important this time)

    I have another machine (not WHM) on the same switch that belongs to the same vlan as the new IP address but that can't be pinged from WHM (it can be pinged from other machines)

    All other ip addresses on WHM including WHM belong to a different vlan and WHM only has 1 nic. The switch has the necessary vlans trunked to it and I can ping both WHM & not-WHM from my desk. I can't ping new-ip from not-whm or ping not-whm from WHM


    Is it possible to host websites from 2 different vlans on 1 WHM?
    Do I need to restart networking in someway?

    According to cPanel it is possible to have 1 WHM respond to traffic from different networks but I was advised by our networks people to keep the configuration simple and stick with 1 server 1 vlan so I have swapped the IP for 1 from the same vlan as WHM and the sites it hosts
