I installed an aws Alma, cPanel instance.
With my current VPS cPanel account, I'm able to add domains and simply point the domain to my name servers and it resolves and works.
I've done this at the aws cPanel and it hasn't resolved in 5 days.
I shouldn't need route53 with cPanel.
Do I need to add an A record for my host name?
Home / DNS Functions / Add an A Entry for Your Hostname
I set up another domain using route 53 and it works

Hey there! It is likely that your nameservers are hosted locally on the VPS account, but not on the AWS server. You would need to determine what nameservers the domain is using and then add the DNS records there. While an A record for the hostname is helpful, it would not keep other domains from resolving properly.

The default nameservers are just placeholders and aren't live in any DNS that you would be able to control. You can use a tool like intodns.com to determine the nameservers that the domain is using so you know where you need to make changes.
