Adding IP to Host Access Control

I just wanted to know how long it takes for Host Access Control to recognize a new IP address added to the list? I read the documentation on it and it doesn't specify. I added an IP for my client and it took about 24 hours for it to recognize it. Is there an exact time? Wanting to know in advance of adding another IP.

As soon as you save changes the new settings are effective.
