I was trying to add openssl functionality to my mysql server and ran into problems...

I was asking my host on advice and they noted that I could manually reinstall mysql and use the -openssl switch to add the functionality, but that it would be transient, as cpanel reinstalls the default version every time it updates it....

Is there a way around this? Will cpanel consider adding an method for selecting which mysql features we want installed with the server is rebuilt?

    thanks

suggestion is to keep the c-panel update to "manual" than automatic. another work around is to uninstall mysql by C-panel and manual compilation of mysql to another location on the server and managing it manually from there.
