    Hello, I wanted to add the page counter option via Cpanel, and once I created the counter, I clicked on "Create HTML" it then gave me the command:

    Code:
    <img src="/cgi-sys/Count.cgi?df=earth-so.dat|display=Counter|ft=6|md=5|frgb=100;139;216|dd=A">
    So I simply pasted that into my index.html file, but displayed on my page it has an error where the counter should be that says:

    Code:
    "Could not write to counter files: /var/cpanel/counters/earth-song.dat "

    How do I fix this? Thanks

    When I had this problem, I found that it was because the ownership of the dat file was wrong.

    cd to where the .dat files are stored

    Then compare the owner and group ownership of the dat file that isn't working to the other counters that are installed that are working. I believe you want owner and group to be the username.

    chown username:username nameoffile
    replace username with the username of the account and nameoffile with the name of the file
