Trying to add a parked (or even addon) domain and getting the following errors:

domain.com is owned by another user.

The domain is not on any other account that I can find. it was orginally on the account that I'm trying to add it to however it stopped showing up in cpanel but couldn't add it again. I then had to manually remove it from the /var/cpanel/users/ file and httpd.conf and other locations. There were two domains with the same problems, taking these steps allowed the first to be added but not this one.

    Any ideas?

Please check the /var/named and the corresponding db file and remove the entries from there as well

Well need to have a look at it and see.... Also did you check the /var/cpanel/users file and see if there are any entries there... if so remove from there as well.

I've gone so far as to grep all files for a mention of this domain (minus the tld) in all files under /var and removed all entries. Checked in some other places also on the server also and removed associated files. Still a problem so obviously that domain is mentioned somewhere but don't have a clue where

I had the same problem, but the fix we found here was slightly different. Each time, we checked /var/named/domain.com.db for the entry, but never thought to check if there was a duplicate.

It turns out that a seperate zone file for the sub domain was being created, rather than relying on the subdomain entry in the main zone file (ie: both /var/named/domain.com.db and /var/named/subdomain.domain.com existed)

simply using whm to delete the zone for the addon domain, then re-adding the subdomain fixed this.

Still digging arount to find out why it's creating the additional zones in the first place, but this at least band-aids this for now :)

    Hope this helps
