additional ip question

I am hosting a website which is using a subdomain let say test.website.com which website.com is not hosted in my server.
It is hosted in an other server, they point it by puting my server ip in their account.
They want to have a deticated ip for test.website.com I added the new ip in my server, since the website is importadn and they dont tolerate any downtime and I want to be sure for that.
If I just put the new ip to test.website.com and it will work (I have dome this way with other website, just wandering since this is a subdomain) or i have also to give the new ip adress them to put it insteand of my main server Ip (which they are using now)

You will need to provide them with the updated IP address first so they can change the "A" record for the subdomain at the DNS host of the domain name it's associated with. You can then update the IP address for the account on your server. The only downtime will be for DNS propagation (it's often only a few minutes, but depends on several factors).
