Addon Domain - WHM Panel for Reseller and DNS Entry

I recently started a new host and need a reseller account for my own domains. I found out through here the other day about the WHM panel. :) I had my designer move a site to my new host (it has a database which I am too scared to deal with). It was added via an Addon Domain.

Today, I tried to add that same domain to my reseller account and got the error message:

Sorry, a DNS entry for iv-7sales.com already exists, please delete it first (from all servers in the dns cluster).

So, if I delete the account from the Addon, will it delete associated databases and folders where files sit, etc?

I will probably have someone who is going to clean up my databases and connection strings etc, deal with this, but wanted to know what impacts I might be looking at.

Thanks

Hello,

If you remove the addon domain, the folder content and database will not be removed, but any email accounts might not longer be there or working for that domain.

Is there a reason you would need to re-add the addon domain rather than simply changing ownership for the account in WHM > Resellers area?

Finally, I highly suggest making a full backup of the account prior to making any changes to the addon domain.

Thanks.

I was trying to keep everything but my main domain (which is mostly used for email), in the reseller area.

I noted the issue the other day when doing the add-ons, that it created subdomains to my main domain which I didn't want. That's when I came here and found out about the WHM panel and how to manage the domains via that panel.

I'm not an expert, but try to understand things so i don't make errors. And am trying to keep things more organized. (for example I have 4 CMS sites created by different people with mysql usernames and passwords all over the place). So having this young man go in and clean all that up on the new host. Lesson learned about providing that info to the designer at the front end of the project.
