I had some users who needed Freetype Support enabled on 3 different servers at 2 different hosting locations.

So I ran an Apache update, clicked the load prev. conf button, and checked the box for Fretype Support.

After the update any site with this line in the .htaccess file:
    AddType application/x-httpd-php htm html

Gives a 500 Internal Server error page.

    Anyone have any ideas?

If I recall correctly, with the AddType directive - you must specify a . before the extension, e.g.:

    Code:
    AddType application/x-httpd-php .htm .html

Well I tried adding the . but no go.

I compared this install to another box without the problem. The bad box had both suExec Module and PHP suExec installed while the good box had only suExec Mod installed.

I removed the PHP suExec and recompiled and it worked.

    I have no idea why.

Anyone have any insight on that?

    Thanks,
    Zack

PHP suExec greatly improves security but can break things. Change files with 777 permissions to 755 and change the AddType to AddHandler
