Hi, dunno if is a bug, my server problem, or what....but when i create aditionals ftp access if the domain is on the server shared ip, i cant access, but if the account have ded IP, work good.
And i dont mean anonymous FTP, just the normal FTP access, the main FTP created with the account work ok, but not the aditionals.

I tested in build 116 and 117, same problem, if anybody have an idea what is the problem, please give me a hand, will be apreciated.

Thanks in advance

Looks as though there is absolutely no support from the cpanel staff.

I'm having the problem with horde and with ftp accounts...

As far as I know, it's always been the case that a shared IP vhost account can have only one ftp account, and of course only one SSL cert on the IP.. which are the two most obvious limitations of shared IP hosting. If this has changed, I need a smack.. but I don't think so..

SMACK :p

If what you're saying is true, then how could we offer Name based hosting packages having various amounts of FTP accounts?

Not sure what the problem is though, as I just setup an anonymous FTP account using Cpanel and a shared IP. I think the problem comes in with the login ID. When the FTP access is created, a sub-directory is created using the same &Login& ID. What it doesn't tell you, in order to FTP into the account you must append the Domain Name to the ID.

Add Ftp Account

Login: testing & automatically creates: /home/account/public_html/testing
Password: test

Click the &create& button.

To access with an FTP program, the login now becomes: &[email protected]&, PW is &test& and access is restricted to the sub-directory of testing.

That is what throws most people off.

It would be nice if FTPd can tell what domain the user is from by just looking at the domain they connected to..

example:

all the ftp accounts on server created:
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]

address: ftp.domain1.com
you can login with user1 and user2

address: ftp.domain2.com
you can login with user1 (not user1 from domain1.com)

One has to understand that Named based (or IP sharing) is a bending of the original DNS methodology. With all the advantages provided by it, learning and understanding how a few things must be done differenlty, is a small price to pay. Once people know how to do &something& things don't seem so bad. ;)

IMO, part of the problem goes back to DarkOrb, for being very lax in their updating of Manuals and documentation for WHM/Cpanel. Here we are going on to version 6, and the Manuals are for version 4!!!

My problem that is that i cannot get any ftp access on named based domains. Not sure if this is connect but when i first got server i changed base ip for named accounts, this caused problems with named based ip access, and needed to change dns entry so ftp pointed to original base ip.

Now i have changed server base ip back to original base ip for named base account but even new named based accounts created do not have ftp access.

It sounds like you should have a knowledgable person check out your settings as there may be some Server files that need to be manually editted.

Also checkout http://dnsreport.com/ to see if that sheds some light on your situation.
