Recently one of our servers crashed a few times and we had to reboot it.
After the reboot the fstab file was modified (there was no more quota support enabled)
The cause of the crashes is unclear, nothing usefull was found in the log files.

Any idea what could be the reason for these crashes or what might have modified the fstab file?

    K.

    What kernel are you running?
There is a bug in 2.6.9 kernel that allows a local user to hang a box (any user, even nobody) and it worked (tested it on the old vps). And do the crashes appear at the same time every week, day, month, etc....

    Regards,
    Brent

Unfortunately this can't be the reason we are running kernel 2.4
