In Tweak settings/system, an option reads...

Allow Perl updates from RPM based linux vendors

    Wise to do?

I remember the other day a post by a colleague where he stated Perl updates should be treated like Apache updates, something that should be monitored closely just in case something goes wrong.

Since cPanel/WHM itself relies on Perl, any issues that arise from a Perl update could be a very bad thing. So it doesn't hurt to do it manually and babysit the install to ensure everything still functions normally afterwards. Also, by not doing automatic updates, you have more control over when these update occur (since you're doing them manually) rather than receiving a frantic call at 4am (or whatever hour is most inconvenient for you) that cPanel is down.
