I have the WHM backups working with S3 very well. I assume the s3 uses a secure connection by default correct? Also, is there any way to enable encryption or is that not needed? I see I can enable it on the s3 bucket itself, but will that mess up anything if I do a restore?

    I setup s3 using this method: https://forums.cpanel.net/threads/how-to-configure-amazon-s3-backups-in-whm.

    Hello,

Per the Backup Configuration document, the following destination types use encrypted connections:
    • Amazon S3™
    • SFTP
    • WebDAV with SSL Enabled
That said, some customers are seeking out AES-256 encryption. I encourage you to vote and add feedback to the following feature request if it's something that interests you:

Backups - encryption of backups (symmetric and asymmetric)

    Thank you.
