Due to an incompatibility with Google Cloud (two network interfaces), if yum update is run, and google updates their network daemon, one of the two sites on the server goes offline because the network interface is not configured properly. This is a known (and unsolvable) problem and Google is working on a fix.
For this reason, I have Update Preferences Operating System Package Updates set to Manual Updates only. This allows me to run yum and apply the missing network rule.
Last night, I received an email with the above subject line, with the body of the message stating "the following updates will be applied on host.XXX.com
Of course I had been updating manually and stopped worrying about an update taking the website off line (for 8 hours until I just noticed the email). I don't get it, why is WHM still set to Manual Updates Only, yet yum was run?
