Annoying subdomains for addon domains

CPanel: 102.0 (build 33)
OS: linux
Apache: 2.4.57
PHP: 8.1.18

As a cPanel user, it's really, really annoying that cPanel creates subdomains on my primary domain for "add on" domains. It does nothing but cause clutter and confusion.

Furthermore, the whole thing is pointless because if the primary domain's DNS lacks the A records (or isn't pointed at the cPanel server), those subdomains are unreachable.

Why can't cPanel fix this?

Hey there! The subdomains are to allow Apache to serve content from a different document root while still being owned by the main cPanel user. cPanel has been this way since it was created, so I don't believe that is something that is going to change at this point.

On cPanel an addon domain is just a domain alias parked on top of a subdomain.

Create a subdomain - set a DocumentRoot.

Park a domain alias on top of that subdomain... addon domain.

The subdomain associated with an addon domain - I do agree is a bit of clutter - but it's just the way it's always been done.
