    Hello all..

I have a server that we are trying to use for anonymous FTP..
We have PureFTP setup and we have anon ftp setup in the account.

Now when we try to go there we get:
    Code:
    Jan 4 13:28:22 cascade pure-ftpd: (?@216.43.0.134) [INFO] New connection from 216.43.0.134
Jan 4 13:28:22 cascade pure-ftpd: (?@216.43.0.134) [ERROR] Unable to set up secure anonymous FTP

Does anyone have any suggestions.. I've tried using a browser, CuteFTP and command line FTP..

check /etc/pure-ftpd folders with ls -la /etc/pure-ftpd most likely you will see only ip address witout linked folder (it should be /home/username/public_folder in cse if you need open anonymous access to user account or /var/ftp). if you see that link not found or linked folder not exist, just create it and link it with ip adress. when i say link i mean symlink. commands may should be a following:

    cd /etc/pure-ftpd

    ln -s /home/username/public_ftp you_ip_address

    or
    cd /etc/pure-ftpd
    mkdir /var/ftp
    chmod
    ln -s /var/ftp you_ip_address

in last case you open server ip for anonymous access (not user account).

for disallow uploading files by anonymous user you may add option "-i" (without quote) to end of /etc/pure-ftpd.conf

Does it mean, that with pure-ftp I can only have 1 anonymous ftp per 1 IP?
We had to switch from proftpd because of the bug in the latest version and now customers are complaining about anonymous FTP..

"One thing that most people don't understand is that setting up Anonymous FTP on a CPanel account without a dedicated IP address DOES NOT WORK. If you want to get Anonymous FTP to work, you have to give the account a dedicated IP."
