Another app is currently holding the xtables lock. Perhaps you want to use the -w option?

Hi! For the last few months, I've been receiving this cron notice intermittently. I am not clear what it is referring to or how to resolve it.

I presume it is related to CSF, but searching here and the webs shows the error message related to many other apps. I've found nothing specific to this on the CSF forums. I've looked in the source of /usr/sbin/csf and didn't not find this error message.

Any advice on how to track down this issue and resolution?

Hello,

There's a thread on this topic at:

SOLVED - CSF / LFD Failing, Strange Error

Could you verify if updating to the latest version of CSF addresses the issue? If you are already using the latest version, could you let us know if you have tried restarting the CSF service?

Thank you.

I've been getting the notice for several months. At least since CSF v10.07. It has since been upgraded six times to v10.13. And restarted many, many times.

The other threads suggest update and restart, but that hasn't worked.

How do I determine which processes are locking this file and its current status?

Hello,

Feel free to open a support ticket if you'd like us to take a closer look to see if we can determine what's manipulating iptables on the system.

Thank you.
