"Cloud Computing with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (Beta)
    Amazon Web Services

Cloud computing with Red Hat Enterprise Linux is a web-scale virtual computing environment powered by Amazon Web Services. It provides everything needed to develop and host applications: compute capacity, bandwidth, storage, and the leading open source operating system platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Cloud computing changes the economics of IT by enabling you to pay only for the capacity that you actually use. Compute capacity can be scaled up or down on demand to accommodate changing workloads and business requirements. Red Hat Enterprise Linux for cloud computing makes it easy to develop, deploy, and manage your new and existing applications in a virtual computing environment."

We're going to be giving this a very serious look. Would be keen to compare notes with others.

    This just in from cPanel:

"I've discussed this with our developers and we can not at this time say that Amazon's EC2 w/ RedHat is a supported platform. You should stick with supported platforms as stated on our site."

    thanks for the info.
i've been watching the Cloud stuff also. It looks like a good direction to go, eventually. Perhaps the same way PHP/mySQL looked back in 1999?

There is absolutely no doubt that this is the way things are going. IS anyone besides Amazon offering commodity-based computing at similar rates / feature sets? If not, Amazon needs some competitio - though it will be hard to compete due to their massive scale.

    ec2 for drp

I am thinking ec2 would be good for DRP
we use R1soft - but I am wondering if that could write out to there or not.

We are also looking to test out the Enomalism cloud computing as well...
