    Greetings,

I have a few sites that run on Joomla with Apache 2.2 and PHP 5.6. When I use the built-in SMTP in Joomla it works fine, but when I update to Apache 2.4 the contact page in Joomla suddenly won't send any mails.

I've read that it has something to do with OpenSSL, but can't find anything that works. We want to be able to get to Apache 2.4 at one point without it breaking the contact forms of our clients.

I hope that I was clear enough on this matter.

It doesn't show any error and won't generate an error_log file anywhere. My guess is that apache 2.4 won't allow remote SMTP without SSL. We now use Google Apps for Work for a mailserver, but we don't have an SSL certificate.

If that's a possibility, would you know of an Apache 2.4 function that limits this?

    Thank you for replying! :)

    Hello :)

Does Joomla report the email is successfully sent? Do you notice any entries in /var/log/exim_mainlog when sending?

    Thank you.

Thank you for trying to help. We managed to solve it with help of our provider. It's a bit embarrassing really.

The SMTP restrictions were enabled. This disabled all outgoing SMTP connections, even those by php.
