    This is Apache version 2

    The server has about 800 people online using MYSQL and a lot of PHP pages

    here is some of the conf

    ----------------------------------------
    TimeOut 3

    KeepAlive Off

    MaxKeepAliveRequests 100

    KeepAliveTimeout 3

    <IfModule prefork.c>
    StartServers 25
    MinSpareServers 20
    MaxSpareServers 30
    ServerLimit 2000
    MaxClients 2000
    MaxRequestsPerChild 1000
    </IfModule>

    <IfModule worker.c>
    StartServers 25
    MaxClients 2000
    MinSpareThreads 25
    MaxSpareThreads 75
    ThreadsPerChild 25
    MaxRequestsPerChild 1000
    </IfModule>

    ----------------------------------------

    Now thats pretty much the same as i had with apache 1.3 an back then i had 1400 users online and it was fine.....

    I have no idea why its doing this

    i have 1.5GB of RAM with 800MB used.... Athlon 3200+ basically dis is not a hardware issue

    Any settings or confs or output feedback i can use to diognose the issue
