Seen this now on two of our web servers, once yesterday, once just now on another machine. The error in:

[Fri Jun 25 14:32:59 2004] [alert] Child 76831 returned a Fatal error... \nApache is exiting!

Both running FreeBSD 4.8 release (updated to latest src), both running CPanel 9.4.1-C58, both running latest Apache versions:

    Server Version: Apache/1.3.31 (Unix) mod_auth_passthrough/1.8 mod_log_bytes/1.2 mod_bwlimited/1.4 PHP/4.3.7 FrontPage/ mod_ssl/2.8.18 OpenSSL/0.9.7d

A simple restart resolves the problem.

    A possible bug?
