I got new server that comes with Apache, WHM, cPanel, RHE4. Apparently the apahce access_log sometimes log records and sometimes stop, when it stops it won't log until restart the apache again. what could be the problem? I also notice that the problem start to occur when the log is larger than 1GB. In the past I know of the problem when the log is more than 2GB, but not 1GB like this case. any idea please help?

Here are the software versions of my server.
- WHM 10.8.0
- cPanel 10.9.0-S45
- RedHat Enterprise 4 i686 - WHM X v3.1.0
- Apache 1.3.36

Thank you.

Go on, have a guess
Ideally the apache access_log should be all but empty and not being logged to. You want the VirtualHosts loggin in the domlogs directory, though.

Odd. Does the disk containing the /usr partition have plenty of space and have you checked that none of the domlogs/ files or logs/ files are near or over 2GB?

I'm having this problem also. I have a logfile that has exceeded 1 gig. Every night when awstats runs apache stops writing to it. Restarting apache fixes the problem and then it returns when awstats runs. If I shrink the logfile the problem goes away. All other logs are normal.
