    Hi,

I can't start Apache after using easyapache due to a bad configuration file, when I try to do configtest, nothing shows up.

    root@gold [/etc/httpd/conf]# /usr/local/cpanel/bin/build_apache_conf
Failed to generate a syntactically correct Apache configuration.
Bad configuration file located at /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf.1190964358
    Error:

    gives no error as well.

    Please help,
    Otto

OK... I fixed that problem by rebuilding to Apache2.

But now, Apache won't start because it can't bind to the IP.

    root@gold [~]# /etc/init.d/httpd start
(98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 72.9.148.179:80

    root@gold [~]# ps aux | grep apache
    root 13948 0.0 0.6 24336 10180 ? S 01:05 0:00 /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -k start
    root 13985 0.0 0.0 1572 280 pts/0 R+ 01:05 0:00 grep apache

I killed the process, reran httpd start, no errors but apache still won't budge.

    Thanks in advance,
    Otto

do lsof -i:80 as root, and see whats running on port 80. i had the exact same problem, turned out there was a bittorrent client and an irc bot hogging port 80.
