I did a search on this forum for Spam Assassin Configuration File and looked through the first six pages of results, no luck. I also went to the Spam Assassin website where you would think this would be readily available.

You would think that a configuration file that works would be available for the account level.

Why aren't people showing these off? I mean if someone has a config file that works why not share it? Am I missing something here?

I need a good one that works and doesn't cause problems. Does the one with the settings below fit the bill? Does it have obvious issues?

Does anyone want to share one they know works awesome?

I found this one:

Please help.

Thanks,

Hello :)

It's likely the default configuration of SpamAsassin is sufficient for most users, thus additional entries are not often discussed. Feel free to share your concerns with the default configuration, or let us know the outcome after implementing additional rules.

Thank you.

Michael,

I highly doubt that the default configuration is sufficient for most users.

After installing the config file I listed I was still getting some spam but now after 24 hours maybe the bayesian filters have learned enough and are blocking it, because I'm getting very little.

Now after a couple of days have gone by and no changes to the settings I'm back to receiving the same 3-5 obvious spam messages an hour but spam assassin is assigning them very low values so of course they are making it through.

Have you considered implementing an account level filter that targets specific types of words/phrases in the message body or subject? Account level filters are documented here:

Account Level Filtering

Thank you.
