In the last 24 hours all my servers are now scoring spams that used to score 4,5and 6 points. They are now getting under 2 points. I mean stuff that used to be well in the radar. I have seen this happen before. It's like it comes and goes on my servers. For the past few days it's been great until recently.

I get about 1500 spams a day personally. SA with a score of 4 kills about 1400 of them. Now it's killing about 700 of those. Is there a way to test this thing to see if it's processing corectly? Have the spammers simply figured out a way to get past SA> I mean some of these scores are low. I can send a email to myself just saying hello and get a higher score than some of these viagra emails lately.

I guess it's just me :( woke up to 500 junk mails and only 600 in my spam folder. I guess 200 spammers all figured out a way to get past SA the same day.

does it seem to have really picked up in the last day or 2? I did a search and it looks like I got less total emails yesterday than last thursday. However several hundred now get past SA under my score of 4. So I know it's not a increase in spam coming in. Either SA is broken or the spammers all got smarter in about the same time.

My situation is about like yours sounds rpmws,
A couple days ago, I got almost no mail strangely. I mean to the point I wa worried something was wrong, but everything looked ok and mail that I sent from free email accounts all came through fine. Yesterday I got absolutely creamed with spam that is getting tagged with very low scores. I even went to the edge release on the servers which I very seldom do just to see if by chance it would help. It didn't. Tried manually updating SA, didn't help either. It's continued through the night and into this morning.

That's exactally what I am seeing. I pop all mail including *****SPAM***** subject mail and then I use a inbox rule to throw it in a folder for me. Last week almost every spam was getting tagged correctly. Maybe 5 got past SA. Now it's like 5 get tagged and the other 1500 don't. I just tried reinstalling SA and truning on and off spamd as well. Don't think it changed anything :(

I'm using a spam assasin score of 7, tagging with *****SPAM***** and use mailwasher locally with several blacklists + a whitelist and customizing my rules so I'm able to get alot of them tagged by modifying and adding rules to tag them for delete. I found bouncing inefective so I stopped doing that quite a while ago. Eventually, I end up creating a filter in cPanel. It's making life easier but usually my local rule that just looks for spam assasin's *****SPAM***** tagging used to catch a much higher percentage of them and it didn't even need to look at the blacklists.
I wonder how we got to be the only lucky ones so far?
My mail calmed down over the past half hour. Usually means I'll get creamed in a bit.

I am sitting here reading your post and noticed the exact same thing. Maybe the spammers are reading our post and decided to lay low for a while :) haha
