I just stared using Spam Assassin. I have to say don’t totally understand it, and the explanation for using it not very clear (or at least to me it wasn’t)… but still want to use it, because of its functionality and the amount of spam we get in the office.

My question is… If it is saying an email is spam, and it is not.. how do I add friendly emails addresses to my “Is not spam list”? I see “blacklist_from” & whitelist_from with 5 fields for me to enter stuff into it. Are one of these where I should be put my friendly emails?

Thanks in advance for the support/help!

    Go on, have a guess
Yes. The whitelist_from is for email addresses that you never want to be identified as spam. the blacklist_from is for emails addresses that you always want to be identified as spam.

There being only 5 fields for me to enter information into… can I put in an email address accompanied my a comma and them my next email address and so on? Almost like when I am email someone and I have to add more addresses?

Also I used an example from the Spam Assassin examples of “key” words that are filtered… I used the ever so classic “penis enlargement” but it did not get marked as spam. I also put a whole shwak of profane words in the body of the message, but still not marked as spam.

Am I needing to turn on an option that I am not aware of?

To block email containing specific content (like the words/phrases you listed) use email filtering. It's a separate screen in your Mail functions.

Are the spam filter (key word block) setted or available
by every mail account and can be adjusting different steps ?
You mean the user spezified keyword settings ?
