Hope some expert on here can help - have spent the last 5 hours building Apache and re-installing cpanel, because I cannot get httpd to start,

    Does anyone have any ideas?

The last few lines of the errror_log are below, but I am really stuck.

If I run httpd configtest it says the syntax is ok.

Ok syntax may be ok but does it have any other line?

Please paste the result here in a post.

    Go on, have a guess
Someone just posted today about issues with Turk-MMCache and the only supported release of PHP at the moment (4.3.8) Do you have that installed (Turk-MMCache)? If so, get rid of it and try again.

I presume you've checked that nothing else is running against port 80:

    netstat -lpn
