    The current design includes:

    1. Server Level Control of the Default Theme
    2. Package Level Control of the Theme
    3. Account Level Control of the Theme
    4. The "Try X4" cPanal feature to allow users to switch between their current theme and X4 and back. (Manageable by root and resellers with enough privileges.)

Are there any other mechnisms you would like us to consider for controlling access to X4?

Yes, we will add a standard cPanel feature to control the "Try X4" capabilities. This feature will be installed when the plugin is installed and will show up in the WHM Feature Manager. This will allow the feature to be managed via the various feature lists on your system.

    So:

If you enable the "Try X4" feature in the default feature list, it will be available to all users on the system.
If you enable the "Try X4" feature on the disabled feature list, it will be disabled for all users on the system.
If you enable the "Try X4" feature on any of the custom feature list, users on that list will be able to access the "Try X4" feature.

When you install the plugin for the first time, the feature will be disabled for all users by default.

We are adding supporting code to X3 and X3mail in 11.36 to show the "Try X4" icon in the cPanel "Preferences" section. There will also be a small notice at the top of the page with a small note when new versions of the plugin are installed. The note is dismissible by each user.

When the "Try X4" feature is enabled for a user, and they click the "Try X4" link, we will save their current theme and branding and switch them to the X4 theme. In the X4 theme, they can elect to go back to their previous theme and style at anytime.

If you are currently using a custom theme on your server, your theme will automatically pick up the "Try X4" icon, but it will not get the "Try X4" banner note without manual modification. Will will provide a short guideline on how to modify your custom theme to support the "Try X4".
