I'm fairly new and I can't find a solution to this. I've password protected a directory using the feature in cPanel. When I go to the site, it asks for the username and password, I type it in CORRECTLY and hit enter and it asks for it again. Only then does it grant access to the site.

    How do I correct this?

    Thanks!

This is because you password protected www.domain.com/directory and are entering from domain.com/directory or vice-versa.

OK. Fair enough. Let me explain futher. The directory I've password protected is the pics directory that stores my Gallery files so the pics can't be viewed without a password.

The Gallery password protect feature has a boatload of setup options and I figured this would be simpler. Perhaps not.

So if the problem is that I'm accessing the directory (ie domain.com/directory), what's the solution? Should I password protect the sub directories (all of the gallery directories) instead?

The issue Billy mentioned wasn't that you were accessing a directory. It is that sometimes when you password protect a directory, it is sensitive to whether you are using www.domain.com or simply domain.com to access it. As a result, you may need to enter the proper password twice to gain access to the folder.
