I recently rebuiit the server using the /scripts/easyapache utility. I wanted to add support for asp by using the addon Mono. Mono seems to be working and allowing the server to process .aspx files, but it does not open .asp files. Does anyone know how I could get it to open .asp files? I was thinking handlers, aliases or something like that to tell it to open .asp files the same way it opens .aspx....

Mono is for .NET languages, such as ASP.NET (.aspx). I am unsure if it can be used for "Classic" ASP (.asp).

    thanks

    Thanks for the quick reply.

From what I understand. ASP.NET is the replacement for the old ASP, so I may just tell the developer to update his code to aspx. Are there any other CPanel support addons that allow for the classic ASP?

    Cheers

ASP and ASP.NET are substantially different implementations so it may not be entirely feasible to ask the developer to simply update the code to ASP.NET.

The Apache module mod_gb could parse classic ASP. However, it is a very old module that was largely abandoned when the Mono project was announced. As a result, it is no longer supported by EasyApache and you should only attempt implementing this at your own risk.

There was a product called "ChilliASP" that could run ASP on Linux, it was bought by Sun a few years back and re-invented as "Sun Java System Active Server Pages 4.0". See -

It looks like they're turning it into a Java application, but the current version runs on Red Hat Enterprise.
