This is a total newbie question, I just rented a server and it has whm installed and has an ip address, my question is how do I assign a domain name to that ip address?

    Hi Mike,

Domains for newly created accounts should automatically assign to the shared IP address on the server. So unless this is a dedicated IP address that you are wanting to add for the account, then the shared IP should already be available for any newly created accounts.

You can create a new account in WHM > Create a New Account area.

If this is a dedicated IP you need to add, then you'd do it in WHM > Add a New IP Address area. Next, you'd assign a dedicated IP to an account after creation in WHM > Change Site's IP Address area.

Finally, you'd assign a dedicated IP during account creation in WHM > Create a New Account area by checking "Select Options Manually" and then checking "Dedicated IP" under the Settings field.

    Thanks.
