Assigning a dedicated IP question

Good morning

I never assigned dedicated IP to an account. Today I tried to assign one for the first time.

My questions are:

1) I must update account's DNS zone and replace all sharedIP --> dedicatedIP?

2) Assigning a dedicated IP means that http:/mywebsite.com is totally equivalent to http:/123.123.123.123 (assuming this is the dedicated IP)*?

Once you assign dedicated IP from WHM , DNS update will be auto done.
Yes http://www.yourdomain and http://www.dedicatedIP will show same contain.

Keep in mind this assumes the domain name uses name servers associated with the cPanel server at it's domain registrar.
