I have just bought a new server asnd I have many ip's. They have all been added fine but I have one that beggins with a 10 then all the rest 66.

Now, I don't want to assign the 10 one to the name servers but ii automatically does it. Also, if possibly I would rather not have toogo intoothe config each time Ii want to add name servers. So is there any way of stopping this ip from being used on name servers?

I've got the same problem, I think. WHM says my main ip is 10.128.45.10. I try to delete it with "IP Functions", but no joy. It is not listed in server serup / edit setup, I already changed it there. Whenever I try to add a name server it wants to assign that "main ip" instead of one of the valid ones. Heip.

My server is there, too. This is the third server I've set up there in the past couple of months and the first time I've had this problem, so I don't think it's me, but who knows, I just want to fix it.

I am going to ring the USA support line for theplanet and see what they have to say but I dont think it will help because I tried sorting it with them before.

Here's what I just got from my ticket on the matter:

You will not be able to delete this IP. CPanel is not designed to support machines with more than 1 network adapter. In this case, CPanel is detecting the 2nd network adapter and assigning an IP to it. From my understanding, the CPanel staff is supposed to be working on an update to correct this problem, but in the meantime, just ignore this IP as it will not affect anything or cause problems within CPanel. Sorry for the in convience!

Thanks- just to let you know - I have nearly finished a script that will allow you to have resellers that can create resellers, you can assign how many reseller accounts they can have etc. Take a look at http://webhost-unlimited.com/UltimateDemo/ for what functions will be there.

I hope it's fixed, theplanet techs are dealing with some other things for me at the moment then I willlask them about this ip problem again.

Okay, use this at your own risk. It may be incomplete or just plain wrong. I am not a guru.

For me the problem was getting correct IPs into the name servers. It kept insisting on using that other ip for one of them.

So I went ahead and setup two name servers, not getting the ips I wanted to use.

I then edited /etc/nameserverips and made it look the way I wanted. Then I went to WHM and edited the zones for the two name servers and made them reflect what I put in nameserverips. Then I restarted bind, and I don’t know but it seems like it’s okay now.

Yea, I have been doing that on my old server but I was looking for an actual fix so I didn't have to edit everything each time.

Well I have no idea if it is being used or not. I will add this to the list I need to ask theplanet.

Probably not, you'd have requested it if it was.

I had them try to disable that extra adapter tonight, in my bios, and they said things just got worse, so they turned it back on.

I assigned a fake nameserver name "holder" to that IP. Now it should stay out of my way? I think?

Good luck and thanks for sharing the frustration tonight.
