attacks server

    Hi,

    our web server goes down (server load avg is >= %70) when somebody attacks our server.
    sometimes, mostly, DNS not responding also.

    We tried to DROP IP's which are attacking to web pages.

    But this is temporarly solution.

    what can we/you do about this ?

    Could you describe the attacks in more detail please? It sounds like what you're saying is hosts are making a ton of GET requests to your webserver, or something similiar.

    If that's the case you may want to look at this:

    Specifically,

    That's what comes to mind first, although there is quite possibly a much better solution (and this assumes you are using linux + iptables)
