I want to password restrict a folder on my web site using the Apache-Server .htaccess/.htpasswd facilities and can not work out what to put in the AuthUserFile path in the .htaccess file to point to the .htpasswd file containing the user names and passwords!
I have look through most of the threads asking .htpasswd type questions and read dozens of htaccess password protection articles so I know where I should locate the two files. In fact the location above my public_html has even got a folder called .htpasswds, nice and neat and out of the way but.
    AuthUserFile /home/hosting/.htpasswds /.htpasswd.
The .htaccess file is easy it’s just in the public_html/passprotected and it works, well it asks for a user name and password.
Any help please only I seem to be in a “can’t see the wood for the trees” situation.
