I have several clients who are going over quota on server space because of spam piling up. Is there any way to set it up so that spam messages are automatically deleted after 5 days?

I would like to see a way to get rid of this all together. everyone that uses it nevr checks the spam folder.

However I do think there is a way to :blackhole: the ****SPAM**** emails or filter with a rule somehow. I have seen it on here.

    Cron job?

Could someone who knows how bang out a cron batch or perl script that would go through and delete all /mail/domain.com/SPAM files?

    Seems easy enough in principle...

The Email Filter function in cPanel allows you delete messages tagged by SpamAssassin, based on the header that SpamAssassin adds. ;)

That's all nice.. and I'd be able to that .. but my spam assasin installation only tags 1/4 of emails messages [SPAM]

The rest are just thrown in the spam mailbox.. a cron script would be really easy to do I'm sure.. but would need to be run as root I would assume..

Do you mean that "the rest that is thrown in the spambox" are actually tagged by SpamAssassin but not deleted? I guess that is possible, but I have not experienced the same. If indeed so, I suggest you examine the message subjects and also the headers and then setup one or more mail filter rules to suite these.

I remember a stage we used MailScanner, and it tagged possible spam as well. In that case we could simple setup a filter rule for "Possible Spam" ;)

The filter on rewritten headers did the trick for me.

    Thanks,

Mind sharing how the alternative header differ from the usual header added by SpamAssassin ? ;)
