Auto-forwarded email labeled spam

I have the auto-forwarder in cPanel set to forward all email from my main account to a gmail account of mine. It has worked fine for a couple of years.

Recently the email started being tagged as spam which was fine as I had a filter set to keep gmail from routing any email into spam(don't want to miss a client's email that got flagged incorrectly). I somewhat ignored it as I was busy with other things. Sometime today I found email in my main account which wasn't forwarded so I sent a couple of test emails in that didn't forward. So I manually sent an email from that account to the same gmail account and the email went through exactly as it should and without being flagged as spam (as the forwarded email had been lately).

I also have a secondary email address on the box where cpanel is which forwards to the first one (same domain and all). So I sent an email to that secondary address and the forwarder sent it to the main address, so I know the auto-forwarder is working. It appears as though only forwarded email is getting flagged by gmail but not stuff I type up manually.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hello :)

Is the email delivered to GMail, but placed in the SPAM label, or is not delivered at all? You can review Google's policy on their emails detected as SPAM at:

https://support.google.com/mail/answer/81126

You may want to consult with your web hosting provider to see if they can review the email logs to see if there are any bounces from GMail, or SPAM that has been sent there.

Thank you.

Whatever the issue was, all the forwarded emails suddenly flooded my inbox hours later so they were hung up somewhere. It was weird that any email I typed up manually went through and all the forwarded ones were the ones with an issue(I suspect this may only be odd to me and that there's a reason for it).

Both issues seem to now be resolved though I am curious as to how come forwarded emails were being labeled as SPAM by GMail but if I sent an identical email manually it would not. (Not really important, just curious if anyone knows why).

Thanks for the response cPM.

GMail has their own private rules in place that detect and label messages as SPAM. It's difficult to say for sure why they consider a forwarded email more likely to be SPAM than a non-forwarded email.

Thank you.
