Hello, I would like to ask how you can make the auto-responder, respond to an e-mail from anyone. I was only wondering as there is a 'From' box. I wanted to use this in the method described below (P.S section).

    Thanks

Is this a good way of getting rid of auto-downloading bots or something?:

A file is password protected, so the user sends the name of the file (in the subject line) to an e-mail and it replies back the password. Can this help defeat spam at all?

No it doesn't, and you just described "boxtrapper" (see cpanel docs)

OK then, but how do I get the auto-responder to respond to 'ANYONE' who e-mails it? Is there a code to put into the auto-responder 'From' box? Like:

    %any% ?

The FROM box indicates who the auto-response is from. By design, auto-responders will reply to any email address.
