Hello,

when a client receives an email, if the sender does not have the SPF configured correctly, a spam assassin rule is indicated with the value:

SPF_SOFTFAIL

Is there any option for the sender to receive an automatic reply when this happens?

This would help them to correct their problem.

Thank you!

Hey there! Exim doesn't have an option for this that I'm aware of because the softfail option isn't designed to give bounceback messages:

I'm sure there's a way to put together something to have Exim see the message, see the softfail on the SPF, and then send some type of reply to the client, but it would require some manual intervention and customization.

For some additional tweaking, you could use the "Apache SpamAssassin reject spam score threshold" option in the Exim Configuration, as that would bounce messages if they are both marked as spam and exceed the specified score.
