automatically restart apache

    Once in a while my sites go down because Apache does.
    Is it possible to automatically restart Apache when it is down or "Failed to receive status information from Apache."?

    You should first check why apache going down .. check the logs on the server to rectify the issue and fix it instead of setting up some thing that will restart the apache.

    Service Manager / tailwatchd is already monitoring Apache. How often does it run?

    BTW There's nothing in Apache's error_log at the times the sites go down.

    I believe its every 5 minutes, cannot find anything in the docs confirming this.

    When the sites go down, what error does your browser display? Its possible Apache isn't going down but restarting it is fixing a different issue maybe something related to PHP.

    Hello,

    You can browse to "WHM >> Service Manager" to ensure Apache is monitored and automatically restarted if it's detected as down:

    Service Manager - Documentation - cPanel Documentation

    However, it's a good idea to review /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log to see what's actually happening with Apache, as mentioned in the previous posts.

    None. The server simply doesn't respond.

    @cPanelMichael as I mentioned in tiny letters at the bottom of my former post, there's nothing in /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log

    Not too sure how to help you on this one, you may want to open a ticket up with cPanel then or hire someone with a bit more knowledge.

    If you happen to be on the server when its happening again, you can run a few commands that will allow us to better help you like:

    Thanks, I'll do so, although I doubt that memory is an issue, because usually I have over 20GB of available RAM.

    Seems that MaxRequestWorkers was reached. I've doubled Max Request Workers (300) and Server Limit (512).

    Maybe with the amount of RAM I have available I should put in higher values, but I don't know about any possible side effects.
