Is there any reason that the avahi-daemon would be using up all the cpu usage?

I keep seeing a process pop up and it just seems to load up the server?

Avahi is provided by the OS distribution; if it's not being used intentionally I would consider disabling it. Via root SSH access, the following commands may be used to stop the current avahi-daemon process using the included initialization script and then disable avahi-daemon using chkconfig to prevent it from automatically starting:
    Code:
    # /etc/init.d/avahi-daemon status
    # /etc/init.d/avahi-daemon stop
    # chkconfig --list avahi-daemon
    # chkconfig avahi-daemon off
