Having copied an account from one server to another I've noticed that my awstats for at least one domain isn't displaying properly. One the main summary page for the domain I can scroll down only as far as the Days of the Week whereas before I could see the whole page.

I've no idea on how to fix this - I've tried to deleting the config files from the domains /tmp/awstats directory (and disabling and re-enabling awstats from WHM) and nothing seems to yield any sort of result.

    Regards,

    Martyn

    Hi,

cPanel now installs Perl 5.8.4 by default, however AWstats only works with 5.8.1 and older. Downgrading to 5.8.1 fixed the problem for us.

Fair enough - but I'd rather not downgrade Perl. Is there any chance of cPanel upgrading awstats to 6.1 soon?

    Regards,

    Martyn

In the mean time, I fixed the problem by:

    a) Discovering that 5.8.0 was already installed.
    b) Editing the shebang line in /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/bin/awstats.pl to read:

    #!/usr/bin/perl5.8.0

This now fixes the problem with Awstats.

    Regards,

    Martyn

This is happening on my server now, for some unknown reason.

I have perl 5.8.4 and its always worked, and the script runs fine and stats are updated, but it never goes past "Days of the Week" (and there's A LOT to see after that, there are no referrer stats, nothing.)

Anyone have any ideas...I'm running 9.5.0-E34

Any ideas from anyone.....any previous statements in this post do not work now. Perl seems to be running the script just fine without errors as I can tell.

If there is trouble, it will find me
I noticed this, too, when I upgraded to 5.8.4. When I downgraded to 5.8.1 everything was back to normal. It has to be an incompatibility problem.

No downgrading should be necessary. Why would there be a perl incompatibility? Especially between 581 and 584, not that much difference besides security/enhancements.

I get no errors when I manually try to run the awstats.pl program with perl 584 but it still never produces the proper output past "Days of the Week"

I don't get errors when I run the script, however its still not producing the output for me beyond Days of the Week either. I just don't see any errors in the actual script running itself.

    I've reported it as a bug (1035 I think)

Well its a perl problem. Look up bug #833 Its reported, over many OSs, using perl 5.8.4 and its a very simple string that produces/fixes the error, so I imagine it will get fixed soon, as my bug just got moved as a duplicate, so other people are submitting it, and Ben from cPanel is assigned the bug and from the looks of it, he's doing a good job keeping track of it.

A lot of people on here are like broken records. Did you guys already try everything in this thread at least? The above solution works beautifully. Downgrading Perl should be the last resort.

    This fixed the problem! Thanks

    Simply do the following -

    1) log into root account through SSH
    2) once logged in, type: pico /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/bin/awstats.pl
    2) add 5.8.0 onto the first line
    - Currently looks like this - #!/usr/bin/perl
    - Should look like this - #!/usr/bin/perl5.8.0
    3) Press Ctrl+x and then y and then [enter] key.
    4) View awstats and this will then show the complete page.

    Again, thanks Martyn.

    How to fix Awstats

I had the same problem after moving to new server, I found a fix by simply upgrading Awstats. Everything works fine now.
