    What I should do here?
    Enable / Disable these?

    BitchX
    bnc
    eggdrop
    generic-sniffers
    guardservices
    ircd
    psyBNC
    ptlink
    services

    ----------------
    and what is this?
Trusted Users (optional, place a list of users that you want the process killer to ignore, one per line, in textbox below. root, mysql, named, cpanel and anyuser with a uid lower than 99 are already consider trusted and do not need to be added.):

    thanks

Leave them disabled and do not add anyone to the trusted users.
That will take care of it.

That will protect you against that kind of malicious process, enable it, all of them.
I have it enabled on all my servers, it will protect you against eggdrops, ircbots, etc.. .

Don't worry about trusted users, you won't have problems with that, just leave it blank.

    Good luck.

If you are wanting to stop things such as IRC servers/bot's sniffers and such being run then enable this.

If you want them to be able to be run, then leave it disabled.

I have them *all* enabled on my HTTP server as it is in a datacenter that doesn't allow IRC connections and I don't want my customers using services they are not allowed.

(While your at it I'd disable compilers too)

    Actully thats incorrect.

What sh4ka and I said is the same thing.
Because this is the "background process killer"
anything with a check mark by it is disabled.
Leave the check mark by all of them and do not add
    any trusted users.

    I'm confused now... :|

    WHM Saids about this..

" Please check off any of the programs you do not want running on your server (we recommend that you check off all of the programs below as letting your users run irc bots and servers usually leads to denial of service attacks)."

What is the right choice then.. check off all items or just leave checked ?
Please, any experienced user to clear this ????

You should check them all. It's not a very reliable way to block such apps, but it's one way to help in doing so.

I agree whole heartedly CHECK THEM ALL, your a webhost, not an IRC host. Every little bit helps.

Would even do this on a VPS server?

I just tried this and it took server load and memory load super high when I did.

Why would I use this if this high load intensive?

Yes, you should do it on a VPS. It should, however, have no effect on performance at all and I've never seen it cause one on a VPS, so that is odd. What, exactly was the nature of the performance issue? What was using up the memory and CPU?

It was not the Background Process Killer it is was Exim causing the problem there is so much spam that it is not even funny.

I get about 500 spam emails a day and I followed some of things I found here in the forums to control it has helped a little bit but still getting over 100 spam emails a day.

I am new at this but I am not scared to work on this if there is easy to read tips that really work.

So if any can help me with this issue please PM or email me.
