    Hello,
    My situation is like this:
I've got a dedicated server and we are using its own dns..
but sometimes our ipaliases service is failing.
Because of this if a visitor is about to visit us, he ends up 'site cannot be found'.
So i was thinking of a temporary solution:
to set a backup dns if the main server is failing and serve a static content..
also it would be nice if the server is down we could still display some kind of message to visitors.. ...insted of the current timeouts..
    thanks very much
i also have a vps available so im able to install anything to it..

thanks very much for any ideas..

I've just got back to my first solution:
i need to set up a secondary dns server on my vps.
Problem is: vps is ubuntu based so the easy way of installing cpanel dns only is not an option.
My question would be what kind of dns service do you think i should install?
I was looking for a solution with web-or console based admin interface..
I was about to give powerdns a try..
