can't find mysql directory that is supposed to be backuped by cpanel.
se a "dirs" and "files" folder in backup but no mysql dir anywhere.

    Thanks

there must be a mysql dir, if is not there you may check what is failing in your server when is doing a full backup.

Please try looking for MySQL data directory backups at a path like the following, where BACKUPDIR is defined in /etc/cpbackup.conf:
    Code:
    $BACKUPDIR/cpbackup/(daily|weekly|monthly)/dirs/_var_lib_mysql_/
    $BACKUPDIR/cpbackup/(daily|weekly|monthly)/dirs/_var_lib_mysql_.tar.gz
Example, showing both an incremental backup directory and a GZIP-compressed backup archive:
    Code:
    /backup/cpbackup/daily/dirs/_var_lib_mysql_/
    /backup/cpbackup/daily/dirs/_var_lib_mysql_.tar.gz
