Backup files with dates?

One limitation of WHM/Cpanel is that backups are done with no consideration of date the way Ensim does. I liked Ensim backups because it was possible to backup data with the date and time of backup embedded in the gzipped file name.

For instance, "backup_file_nov_9_2006_1000.tar.gz

The advantage of this is that older backed up files are not overwritten by new ones, and one gets to keep a number of backups that one can easily refer to to recover data on specific dates.

Can this be done with WHM/Cpanel? If so, how can I achieve this?

Go on, have a guess
No, it can't be done with the existing backups, you'd have to run a copy of /scripts/cpbackup that you've modified yourself. If you want to make a suggestion to cPanel, log an enhancement request in bugzilla.
