Backup restore

    Hello All...


    I have one reseller account is old1
    I had logged in old1 reseller account using whm i had copied all accounts files using backup genreation option
    i transfered all backup fiels on newreseller account newone1
    I have logged in newone1 whm
    I clicked on restoe full backup/cpmove
    2 i provided user name
    i got following error.

    Searching /home....
    Found backup-12.10.2004_11-13-49-user.tar.gz
    Moving Packge to /home/cprestore/backup-12.10.2004_11-13-49_user.tar.gz
    Extracting Domain....Done
    Sorry, the copy failed. Unable to find the cpanel user file

    I have root access of newone1 server.

    Please guide me how to restore files.
    i have 62 accounts backup files of this format
    backup-12.10.2004_11-13-49_user.tar.gz

    I think you're trying to accomplish n+1 tasks in only n steps. Can you restore the account under the old name and then change the username on the account? I think that's where it is going wrong.

    i didnt get

    i have to transfer account from old to new
    there is no account on new server
    should i create account then restore or should i use reseller user name for restore
    if i use reseller use what abt other account?
    is it overwrite?

    please guide me stepe by step

    If I understand correctly, you want to restore the account on a vanilla server, basically. Of course, this server has all the same software installed on it.

    I haven't tried what you're doing, but according to my understanding of WHM's backup / restore, you should be able to:

    (1) Create a user on the new machine using the very same username whose backup you're about to restore.
    (2) Restore the backup file on the new machine, overwriting everything.
    (3) After verifying the restore, change the username on the new machine, if necessary.

    I think you're not doing step 1. As mentioned, step 3 is optional, but all things must be the same for step 2 to occur, which is why I suggest creating the user of the same username on the new machine.

    Let me know if I'm even more confusing!

    Hello....

    Client donat want to change password or username..
    thats why i am trying to restore directly..
    client did not provide password of users..
    we have only username details and backup files with above format..
    tell me now
    should i create user same name and try to restore?
    will it restore the all deatils as it is with password and db password?

    I have trid following stpes now.
    i have creates same user on new server
    after that i tried to restore backup using third option but same error.
    please reply me :(

    You do not create the account first and then restore the backup. The backup contains all the details for the account so simply restoring it will create the account for you.
