Hi there, forgive me but i'm a n00b to most of this.

Just wanting to know what is the best way to backing up a whole server incase of an accident.

I can FTP to another local machine if thats an option or install a tape backup.

Anyone possibly talk me through this please?

    Cheers

Personally, if I had physical access to my boxes, I would prefer to backup to cd or tape as opposed to ftp (bandwidth).

Just search for backup utilities/hardware for your particualr OS/Platform and choose the best that you can afford.

you could also logın as root and then go to the dırectory / and make a tarball of the server then use mv yourtarball.tar to your publıc_html folder and use wget on another machıne to copy ıt
